Jodhpur: Self-styled godman Asaram has been brought back to Jodhpur from Ahmedabad by road on Tuesday night. He was taken to Ahmedabad by Gujarat Police for questioning him in a sexual assault case against him and his son Narayan Sai. Jodhpur Police is likely to present the chargesheet soon.
Asaram has been accused of rape, sexual assault and illegal confinement between 2001-2006 by two Surat-based sisters. Also his son, Narayan Sai has been named in the chargesheet. He has been on the run ever since to prevent police custody. Surat court will hear Narayan Sai's anticipatory bail in the case on Wednesday.
Asaram had been lodged in Jodhpur jail since August in another sexual assault case before he was brought to Ahmedabad on October 15 after Gujarat Police produced a production warrant against him and was granted Asaram's custody by Jodhpur sessions court.
However the court had also ruled that he would have to be produced on scheduled hearings.
