BANGALORE: The officials of the Karnataka State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) rescued seven children, after raiding the SLV confectionery unit at Hongadevanahalli, Bannerghatta Road in Hulimavu police station limits on Friday morning.The commission had received information that children were being forced to work in the unit. Based on that, a team of officials led by SHRC Chairman S R Nayak and officials from labour department raided the unit.Later, Satish, Prakash, Raju Dorai, Balakrishna, all aged 10 years, Sharath Kumar (9), Balan (15) and Kumaran (17) were rescued. They all hailed from Tamil Nadu and arrangements have been made to send them back to their native places on Saturday, the commission’s Dy SP, Ashwath Narayan said. The owner of the unit, Stephen was arrested. It is alleged that he was forcing them to work.
