Dera Sach Khand has demanded an investigation into Vienna killing.

New Delhi: Around 200 people held a demonstration outside the Austrian embassy on Tuesday, demanding an investigation into the killing of a Sikh religious leader in Vienna.

The protesters, followers of the slain Sant Rama Nand of Dera Sach Khand, gathered outside the embassy at upscale pocket in Chanakyapuri on Tuesday morning.

"It was a peaceful protest and the sect members wanted to give a memorandum to the Austrian embassy demanding an investigation into the killing of their leader," Deputy Commissioner of Police, New Delhi, S Dash said.

"The police will guide two to three members of the group to the commission for submitting the memorandum," he added.

Meanwhile, security around the embassy has been tightened. "We have deployed extra forces around the embassy and the situation is under control," Dash said.

Followers of Dera Sach Khand burnt trains, blocked key highways and destroyed property in Punjab and parts of Haryana on Monday to protest an attack on its leaders in a gurdwara in the Austrian capital, Vienna, on Sunday.

The second-in-command of the sect, Sant Rama Nand, died in a hospital in Vienna on Monday following the attack, which left at least 16 people injured.
