Putting a full stop to speculation regarding the nature of Smart City Kochi (SCK), Group CEO of TECOM Abdul Latheef Al Mulla has made it clear that the much awaited dream project of the state would be a township.
Al Mulla was delivering the special address at the sectoral conference on IT and IT enabled services at the ‘Emerging Kerala’ meet here on Friday.
“The SCK, which started off as an IT hub of the state, will have four clusters and Information Technology would be only one among them. IT enabled services, residential complex, a commercial cluster, theatre complex, hospital and shopping mall would be the other clusters.
The master plan will be ready by the next week and it will be finalised after getting an approval from the state government,” he said.
The plan will be ready by the third week of September and there would be a meeting to finalise it. “We will then begin the construction activities for Smart City which is going to be a fully self-sufficient township with clusters even for residential, media, educationand IT facilities” he said.
He added on an optimistic note that the project will take off soon.Al Mulla, who had a series of negotiations with thestate governments in connection with SCK, had a dig at his own experience of a business endeavour with the state.
“I have gained wisdom after coming to Kerala. The state has got many unique features and even the negotiations here are of a unique nature,” he said. The present government has lot of enthusiasm in the IT sector and business as a whole, he added.
