Sobhayathra, a visual treat to devotees

Numerous children dressed up as Lord Krishna and gopikas, on the occasion of Ashtami Rohini, literally converted Ananthapuri to Ambadi.  The sobhayathras organised under the aegis of the Balagokulam were a visual treat to the ardent devotees of Lord Krishna.

The Sobhayathra started from Palayam Ganapathi temple at 4.30 p m, proceeded through the MG Road and culminated at the Sree Padmanabhaswamy temple.

Floats which came to Palayam, from different parts of the city, featured various  epic characters in Lord Krishna’s life. 

Folk art forms, women clad in traditional Kerala attire, bhajan bands, ornamental umbrellas, percussion ensemble, floats depicting Sree Krishna’s chariot, ‘sarasayya’, ‘Nalakubera moksham’, ‘Kaliyamardanam’, ‘Aalila Kannan’,  ‘Govardhanodharanam’ etc evoked the memories of Ambadi, Dwaraka and places and incidents attached with the story of Lord Krishna. K Muralidharan MLA inaugurated the sobhayathra. Balagokulam state general secretary V Harikumar delivered the keynote address.

Balagokulam officebearers Mukkumpalamoodu Radhakrishnan, Satheesh Poojappura, T K Rajan, T Nandakumar, T Mayamohan, RSS leaders P Sudhakaran, P Manoharan, District Pracharak Muralidharan, BJP leaders J R Padmakumar, Karamana Jayan and P Ashok Kumar led the sobhayathra.
