New Delhi: Congress president Sonia Gandhi will tour the flood-affected villages in Barmer on Thursday. She is expected to meet some of the people displaced by the floods.
The visit comes just after Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje toured the flood-affected areas on Wenesday. She visited the region to review the relief work.
Angry at the lack of relief work in the region, villagers greeted Vasundhara Raje with violent protests. She was accompanied by the Chief Secretary of Rajasthan.
Meanwhile, the floods continue to wreak havoc in Rajasthan. The death toll in the state now stands at 139, while in the worst hit Barmer, death toll at has touched 104. Rail traffic in the area is still disrupted.
The state government has asked the Centre for a special relief package of Rs 3,200 crore.
