The actor will be seen in 11 different getups in Dhoondte Reh Jaaoge.

Sonu Sood - best known as Abhishek Bachchan's brother in Yuva and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's brother in Jodhaa Akbar is all set to spoof Hindi cinema's greatest characters in the forthcoming comedy Dhoondte Reh Jaaoge. In an interview to Buzz18.com the actor reveals more.

Q. Your new film is called Dhoondte Reh Jaaoge. That's pretty much what your fans must be thinking right now considering the gap between your films.

Sonu Sood: Oh I am very much around. It's just that after Jodhaa Akbar, Singh Is Kinng and Ek Vivaah Aisa Bhi – which were all successful in their own capacities, I was looking to do an out-and-out commercial film. That's when Dhoondte Reh Jaaoge happened and I am sure all my fans will be delighted to watch me in this film.

Q. Going by the promos, the film seems to be spoofing classics like Sholay and DDLJ. Where do you fit into this film?

Sonu Sood: I play a very choosy star called Aryan Kapoor. Paresh Rawal who plays a film producer convinces Aryan to be a part of his project. But half-way through, he realises the film being made is all crap and walks out. That's when Paresh and his team decide to carry on shooting the film with a bunch of look-alikes. So in the process we end up spoofing not only Sholay and DDLJ, but Deewar, Gadar and many other great films.

Q. So you basically play the star and his look-alike.

Sonu Sood: Dhoondte Reh Jaaoge is a film within a film. And you will see me in 11 different avatars.

Q. Which spoof did you enjoy the most and which was the most challenging?

Sonu Sood: I thoroughly enjoyed Mr Bachchan of Deewar. It's one of my favourite films. What makes the spoof even more interesting that I play a dwarf Amitabh Bachchan. I think that contrast has come out very well and is hilarious to watch.

They are all challenging because while the audience has to laugh, the characters are very serious about their work on screen. None of us are laughing while filming our spoofs.

Q. From Ash to Neha Dhupia to Esha Kopikar to Soha Ali Khan in this film. You seem to be working with the prettiest faces in town. What's the secret to this?

Sonu Sood: I think all our actresses are extremely beautiful. So I would just call myself plain lucky to get a chance to work with them.

Q. Was it intimidating doing comedy with Paresh Rawal and Johnny Lever?

Sonu Sood: Not at all. Comedy is a team effort and we had a great one. With such amazing actors around, there is so much scope for improvisation. Everyone enjoyed themselves a lot and I think we have pulled it off well.

Q. Which is your all-time favourite comedy? And is it your favourite genre as an actor?

Sonu Sood: I love the old Golmaal. While shooting a comedy there is lots of energy on the sets, which makes it lot of fun. Comedies are spontaneous. But if you ask me I really enjoy working in action films. I do a lot of them in Telugu and it's something I would never stop.
