New Delhi: Keeping safety aspects in mind, the Jammu and Kashmir government is likely to set up a temporary special court for trial of the sex scandal and related cases.
State government counsel S Rathore informed the High Court on Tuesday that in view of the nature of the case, safety of witnesses and accused and for general convenience, it would
be advisable to create a special sessions court for trial of the cases connected to the sex racket.
He told the Division Bench of Justices Hakeem Imtiyaz Ahmad and B A Kirmani that the matter of setting up of the special court was under "active consideration" of the state government.
It would come up with a proposal in this regard very shortly, he said.
The Bench asked him to keep it informed on the progress in this context by the next date of hearing.
Earlier, Former Additional Advocate General of J & K and one of the persons wanted by the CBI in connection with the Srinagar Sex Scandal, Anil Sethi, surrendered on Wednesday.
Sethi, who has been absconding and was declared a proclaimed offender by a court in Srinagar, turned himself in before the Chief Judicial Magistrate in Jammu, CBI sources said.
He has been sent on a 3-day transit remand.
The CBI had announced a cash reward of Rs two lakh for information on Sethi when he failed to appear before the agency after he was named by a minor victim of the racket last month.
