New Delhi: The battle between LTTE and the Sri Lankan Army is growing fiercer by the day. In last month's attack on an army camp in Batticaloa, the LTTE used the tried and trusted suicide bomber.
He tried to crash an explosives laden tractor into the camp, didn't quite succeed and blew himself up along with seven others. Many were injured in the incident.
A day before that the LTTE air strike on the army left the government worried and an inquiry is still underway into how the rebel aircraft were never detected.
Taking the civil war further on Tuesday, Sri Lankan war planes bombed a suspected Tamil Tiger training camp in the island's north-east.
"Fighter jets of the Sri Lankan air force bombed an identified LTTE training camp in Wattappalai, south of Puthukudirippu this morning," the ministry said in a statement according to news agency PTI.
It gave no details and there was no immediate word from Liberation Tigers of Tamil Ealem (LTTE).
However, both sides accused each other of killings of civilians in the embattled north-east regions in the past two days.
