Strauss-Kahn hearing delayed to late August
Kahn allegedly forced Nafissatou Diallo, a 32-year-old hotel maid, to perform oral sex.

New York: The next court hearing in the sexual assault case against former IMF chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn has been postponed until August 23.

"We have consented to a postponement of the status hearing before Judge Obus from August 1 to August 23," said a statement from Wlliam J Taylor and Benjamin Braffman, Strauss-Kahn's lawyers on Tuesday.

Strauss-Kahn, 64, who allegedly forced Nafissatou Diallo, a 32-year-old hotel maid, to perform oral sex, was taken into custody a few minutes before his flight departed for Paris on May 14.

"We understand the District is continuing to investigate. We hope that by August 23 he will have reached the decision to dismiss", the statement said.

In recent weeks, Strauss-Kahn was released from house arrest and his lawyers have asked government prosecutors to drop the case against him since it emerged that Diallo had lied to investigators and had criminal connections.

Diallo, who has recently broken her silence, has said that she wanted the former chief of the IMF to face trial. "I want justice. I want him to go to jail," she told ABC."

"I want him to know that there is some places you cannot use your money, you cannot use your power when you do something like this." she said.
