KOCHI: Worried about spending a fortune on an expensive suit? Easy dude, it’s available for rent here in the city. In an emerging trend, an increasing number of grooms are doing away with shopping for expensive wedding suits and opting for ones on rent. One of the reasons cited for this trend could be because brides and grooms - after spending thousands, even lakhs on their elaborate wedding outfits generally don’t find any occasion fit to wear them again. They lie unused in cupboards for years after that.  “Most brides and grooms are content with renting their dresses for the wedding instead of spending huge money in creating, storing, and preserving them,” says Mohammed Hilal, managing director, Tex World in Lissie Junction.  He says that the rent of the wedding suit for a day is Rs. 2,000. “We also collect a cash deposit of  Rs. 1,500, which is refunded once the material is returned,” Hilal adds. The demand for party wear is also on the rise, he says. “The rent for party wear, that includes designer suits, is slightly higher. We charge Rs. 2,500 along with a cash deposit of Rs. 1,500. Blazers are the trend and sherwani  is out of fashion at weddings,” Hilal adds. The endorsement comes from a soon-to-be-married John Mathew.“One wants to look great on one’s wedding day.But buying expensive dresses is a waste as it is not used after wedding. Renting is a better bet.”
