KOCHI: The low infant mortality rate and high literacy rate are the two factors that helped the ‘Kerala Model’ grab the attention of the global community, Excise Minister K Babu said here on Saturday. The minister was speaking after inaugurating the Summer Pedicon 2011- the national level meeting of the Indian Academy of Paediatrics (IAP). The minister presented the national award instituted by the academy to IAP Kerala Chapter for bringing down the rate of infant mortality. IAP national president Dr T U Sukumaran presided over the meeting.
