KOCHI: Public Works Minister V K Ibrahim Kunju is one who believes in collective responsibility. For this representative from Kalamassery, all persons from the top to the bottom level should work as a team for the success of any project. He believes that a minister should not only give orders but also work along with his staff to implement various projects. Though Ibrahim Kunju sleeps late, he always wakes up sharp at 4.30 in the morning. After a brief exercise, he is up for work. He is prompt in having ‘puttu’ and ‘kadala’ curry for breakfast. He always has an early breakfast. But he does not prefer any special dish for his lunch or dinner. A man who tries to be with his family whenever he gets time, Ibrahim Kunju says he promotes family get-together that always enriches the bond between the members. “When sitting together, all members would be in close quarters and it helps a great deal,” he says. Travelling and reading are his hobbies. And while travelling, he prefers his wife to be with him wherever he goes. In all his foreign trips, his wife Nadeera had accompanied him.On his entering politics, Ibrahim Kunju says he entered the political arena through MSL, the students’ wing of the Indian Union Muslim League while studying at St Philomina’s HS, Koonammavu. From student politics, he rose to become the party’s Ernakulam district secretary. With regard to the programmes for his constituency, Ibrahim Kunju says his focus is on education, agriculture and strengthening new-generation industries like biotechnology, information technology and nano technology.
