Telangana CM promises waiver of crop loans worth Rs 12,000 crore

Sangareddy: Telangana Chief Minister Kalvakuntla Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) said here on Wednesday that crop loans worth Rs 12,000 crore and transport tax for auto rickshaws would be waived off, while the Gajwel Development Authority would be constituted shortly.

Addressing a public meeting this evening at Gajwel town which is in the Medak assembly constituency he represents, KCR said that crop loans worth Rs 12,000 crore would be waived off to benefit nearly 22 lakh farmers.

He made the statement after a formal meeting with bankers earlier in the morning at Hyderabad.

He said that his government would spend about Rs 1 lakh crores in five years for the welfare of scheduled castes, scheduled tribes, backward castes and minorities.

Out of this amount, Rs 50,000 crore would be be spent on SC/ST welfare activities alone, he said.

He said that the government would establish a Horticulture Research Station at Gajwel.

The government would also provide free and compulsory education on par with corporate English medium educational institutions, he said.

Rao also said that hospitals on the lines of the Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences (NMIS) would be established in every district of Telangana, while each primary health centre would get four regular doctors.

He said that Gajwel would be a "model constituency" in Telangana, for which a Gajwel Development Authority would be constituted.

Already a special officer has been deputed to look after Gajwel's developmental activities, while a special personal assistant would be appointed in the Chief Minister's Camp Office exclusively for Gajwel, he said.
