HYDERABAD: Once again all the Telangana elected representatives and Telangana peoples’ organisations are eagerly waiting for AICC president Sonia Gandhi’s birthday on December 9.Two years ago, on that day, close to midnight, Union Home Minister P Chidambaram announced that the process for creating separate Telangana state would be initiated, but made a volteface on December 23 saying consultations were required. Now all pro-Telangana forces and political parties in the region are demanding that the Central government should honour its December 9 statement.Telangana Congress MPs and TRS members protested in Parliament, while at the same time a section of Congress leaders continued consultations with party high command on T issue.T-leaders of the Congress and TRS believe that party high command was in the right mood to set its house in order and bring normalcy to the state. For that the party should address the T-issue and show some way out for their own party leaders and cadre.Congress leaders are of the opinion that expansion of Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy Cabinet and constituting new executive committee for PCC are linked to the T-issue. One of the TCongress leaders said if the party resolved the T-issue, it would help the high command sovle other issues and prepare the party for 2014 elections. One AICC secretary said: “Congress leadership is doing preparatory work within the party and outside to take a decision on the T-issue. The party leadership is recording the statements of the all the key leaders of the AICC executive.Party should be saying something on Telangana sooner than later.” Meanwhile, Seemandhra leader and Eluru MP Kavuri Sambashiva Rao said this was the right time for the party leadership to address the situation in the state. He said if the party leadership wanted to bifurcate the state, the government should implement the party decision.TJAC chairman professor M Kodandaram said they were expecting a decision on the T-issue from the Centre. They would decide on intensifying the T-movement only after hearing from the Centre. He said he expected that the Centre would spell out its stand on November 15, but some forces prevented it from doing so.
