CHENNAI: Minister of State for Prime Minister’s Office, V Narayanasamy, on Saturday urged the Tamil Nadu government to take legal action against the protestors who oppose Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant (KNPP) as the objective of the agitators seems to be delaying the commissioning of the project rather than finding a solution.Answering queries of mediapersons at the airport here, the Union Minister said during the talks with the Central experts team, the representatives of the People’s Movement Against Nuclear Energy (PMANE) had demanded secret documents regarding the KNPP instead of asking about the safety aspects of the plant.  They had demanded the copy of the agreement with Russia and expenditure incurred for establishing the plant. The Tamil Nadu Government has filed cases against the protestors but so far had not taken any action against them, he said, and added that the State Government should take action against the protestors. The Union Home Ministry had sent notices to six NGOs in Tuticorin which are instrumental in getting funds from abroad to meet the expenses of the struggle committee, Narayanasamy said. The Union Minister said the protests against the nuclear plant were not justified after the experts committee explained the various safety features in place.
