Pushkar: Pushkar witnessed the third case of indecency by foreign tourists, all this just a week before the famous Pushkar fair.
Erica was arrested for obscene conduct in a public place on Saturday when she emerged nude, after a bath in the Pushkar lake.
Erica was later released on bail and will be produced in court shortly.
She was said to have expressed regret over the incident and claimed the act was part of a personal spiritual ceremony.
This is not the only case where foreign tourists have displayed such behaviour. Earlier this year, two women dancers were accused of stripping. Last month, a newly married Israeli couple was fined for kissing in public. In all the cases, the tourists say their intentions were holy.
The state unit of Bhartiya Go-Vansh Rakshk Samvardhan Parishad (BGRSP) has urged Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje to look into the matter.
"The district administration should ensure such incidents of vulgarity and obscenity do not get repeated," said BGRSP Executive Chairman Jai Bahadur Singh Shekhawat.
The consumption of liquor, night bars in hotels and restaurants in the holy city should also be contained, Shekhawat added.
