HYDERABAD: Four days after the hunt for an elusive treasure started near the Vidyaranya school at Saifabad, the archeology department on Wednesday continued with its exploration work with help of a team from the National Mineral Development Corporation.Prof Chenna Reddy, director of state archaeology and museums said they were making use of technologies like electric resistivity and magnetic resonance surveys and also consider using ground penetration radar. He informed that the process of mapping and surveying the site would continue for the next 4-5 days. When asked whether they had filed a request with the Central Advisory Board on Archeology before initiating the digging, Prof Reddy said it was not an archaeological site and they were undertaking not an excavation but exploration.Meanwhile, A Vijay Aditya, an MA student who is physically challenged, visited the site and claimed to be greatly interested in treasure hunts and said the department had given permission to him to visit the site.Prof KP Rao, a trained archaeologist and head of History department at University of Hyderabad said that any excavation work is conducted with the hope of reconstructing the past and not to find materials of value.
