Tusker nursing its wound

The injured tusker, which was found limping near Daldali village in Bhalugad forest under Dhama forest range, is yet to recover even after being administered antibiotic on Wednesday.

The tusker had sustained a wound on its front left knee. It is learnt that since the tusker had moved to the hills, further treatment could be pursued.

Meanwhile, a special team of the Forest Department, led by veterinarian Khirod Patel, has worked out a treatment plan. Sources said with pus oozing out of the wound, the tusker needs immediate medical attention.

It is widely believed that the tusker could have been injured by poachers and efforts are on to ascertain the nature of the wound.
