Explosive went off when a rag picker was rummaging through a garbage dump.
Guwahati: Two low intensity blasts took place the busy commercial Fancy Bazaar area on Saturday afternoon, injuring two persons.
Sources said the incident took place when a rag picker was rummaging through a garbage dump and a possible ignition might have activated the explosives. Soon after the incident there was panic in the area.
Local police and a team of officials from the forensic science department rushed to the spot and collected explosive samples from the site.
The entire area was cordoned off and preliminary inquiry revealed that it was crackers, which went off. The local police beefed up the security in the area as a precautionary measures.
The injured persons including the rag picker were admitted to a nearby hospital.
