Acting on a complaint filed by a real estate agent, two police constables attached to Viveknagar police station have been suspended. Rohan, the complainant, alleged that one of the constables was having an illicit affair with his wife, and the other, threatened him.
Nawaz Khan and Roopesh, the two crime constables have been suspended. Following the complaint, three days ago, Nawaz was transferred to Sadashivanagar police station. According to the police, Rohan had filed a case with ACP (Law and Order) T Suneel Kumar accusing Nawaz of having an illicit affair with his 22-year-old wife. He further charged that when he went to Viveknagar police station to file a case, Roopesh threatened him and told him not to file the case.
Another sub-inspector, Nayaz Ahmed, also tried to strike a compromise deal.Based on his complaint, disciplinary action would be initiated against the two constables. However, the higher ups are still trying to ascertain the role of the sub-inspector in the case.
DCP (Central) B R Ravikanthe Gowda said a departmental enquiry will be initiated against the suspended policemen. “If they are found guilty, action will be taken against them. But if the allegations are false, the complainant will be booked for filing a false case.”
Meanwhile, the complainant’s mother-in-law said her daughter did not have any extra-marital affair.
“Rohan has always suspected her fidelity and has assaulted her. So, my daughter used to contact Nawaz over the phone, as she had known him. But, Rohan used to check her call details and suspected that she had an illicit affair with Nawaz. His charges are baseless,” she claimed.
The complainant’s wife is the daughter of history-sheeter Palani Raj.
