Udasi receives Nightingale award

KEONJHAR:  Udasi Sahoo, a multipurpose female health worker of Chilida health sub-centre under Patna CHC was felicitated by President Pratibha Patil with National Florence Nightingale Nurses Award for her service to the downtrodden in her locality.She was awarded a gold medal, certificate of merit and cheque for `50,000 at a function in Delhi. Udasi served in a remote area of Keonjhar district where infant and maternity mortality rates are quite high. In her 16 years of service she ensured safe delivery of thousands of women.On an average she helps 60 women deliver smoothly every month, Udasi said.
