Undertrial found dead

BANGALORE: An undertrial prisoner at the Parappana Agrahara Central Prison was found dead under mysterious circumstances in the jail premises on Thursday morning. The deceased has been identified as Shashidhar, a resident of Kattigenahalli.According to police, Shashidhar was arrested on charges of dowry harassment after his wife and child committed suicide about six months ago. The reason for his death is yet to be ascertained, police said.However, the jail authorities maintained that Shashidhar was suffering from asthma and he was taken to the hospital in jail premises today.He collapsed and died instantly.His body was sent to Victoria Hospital mortuary for postmortem.Jeep plunges into lake, 6 hurtSix people including a veterinary doctor and a veterinary inspector were injured after the jeep in which they were travelling plunged into a lake at Kaluvanahalli near Nelamangala on Thursday morning. Negligence of the jeep driver is said to be the reason for the incident.The injured have been identified as veterinary doctor Mohan Kumar, veterinary inspector Veena, the staff of the animal husbandry department Muniraju, Bannappa, Sharadamma and driver Rudraswamy.5 Held for RobberyThe Central Crime Branch (CCB) sleuths recovered 1.5 kg gold ornaments and 4.6 kg of silver valuables worth `32.5 lakh and arrested five burglars.The accused have been identified as K P Rama alias Koti Rama (21), a resident of Chikkaballapur, Manjunath alias Kommaghatta Manja alias Mahesh (25) of Kengeri, Syed Saifan alias Saifan alias Noor (22) of Kengeri, Ajmad Khan alias Tasu (23) of Nelamangala and Afroz alias Giddu (22) of RT Nagar.
