UP Police IG seen 'sitting' at Akhilesh Yadav's feet at Saifai event

Saifai: Even as the uproar over the Samajwadi Party government lavishing crores of rupees on a celebration at Saifai continues, the man in charge of law and order Agra, Meerut and Muzaffarnagar Inspector General Ashutosh Pande was seen sitting at the feet of Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav during the event.

The police officer, who is supposed to be neutral has shown his closeness to the SP government in the past, attacking Delhi Police for investigating Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi's allegation that the Lashkar-e-Toiba has infiltrated parts of Uttar Pradesh.

Several Bollywood stars including Salman Khan and Madhuri Dixit had come to Saifai to entertain SP leaders, bureaucrats and residents of party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav's hometown. The otherwise silent CM Akhilesh, too, added to the star performance when he was dragged to the dais.

However, what the Samajwadi Party and the UP government failed to explain was what really was the reason for such grandeur at a time when the state government is shutting down relief camps in Muzaffarnagar.
