New Delhi: Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday night held the UPA Government responsible for the raising of anti-India slogans and display of banned LeT's flag in Srinagar.
Modi alleged that the Centre's ‘soft’ attitude was responsible for the spate of terrorist activities in the country.
"The UPA Government had scrapped the POTA after assuming power three years ago which led to the spate of terrorist activities in our country and emboldened the subversive elements to such an extent that they have started raising anti-India slogans and displaying LeT's flags in full public view in Srinagar recently,” PTI quoted him as saying.
The Congress led UPA Government was compelled by some parties in scrapping the anti-terror law POTA for vote bank politics, Modi claimed and accused both the SP and BSP of being parties to the decision.
He took a dig at the Centre for ‘sitting’ on the decision over execution of Parliament attack case convict Md Afzal.
Modi also took to task the SP and BSP for their alleged silence on the Afzal issue for "vote bank and minority appeasement politics".
He also raised the issue of illegal infiltration from Bangladeshi in the northeastern states and claimed that the infiltrators were not only grabbing the employment opportunities of the natives, but also posing serious threat to the country's security.
