New Delhi: Civil services aspirants will appear for their preliminary examinations on Sunday as scheduled after the Supreme Court had refused to postpone the examination.
As valiant demonstrations were witnessed in the past one month across the country specially north India over alleged language bias in the examination, police in national capital is leaving no stone unturned to make sure that no untoward incident takes place as some students have decided to boycott their exam and continue their protest.
At Delhi's Mukherjee Nagar, a hub of UPSC aspirants, there is heavy deployment of police outside a examination centre. Barricades too have been put up.
In a special hearing, a bench of justices J S Khehar and Arun Mishra, had on Saturday dismissed the plea for a stay on the examination. The bench granted a patient hearing for around half-an-hour but did not agree with the contention of the petitioner that the examination procedure favours students of science background.
"You have pointed out only one point that is on comprehension and it has been removed. Defect has been remedied," the bench said.
It was referring to UPSC's decision asking candidates not to answer questions in English Comprehensive section of the preliminary exam following protest over its inclusion.
