No sentry stopped the terrorists as they sneaked in, special forces killed them all in 15 minutes, say sources.

New Delhi: The 4-member fidayeen squad that attacked the Brigade Headquarters in Uri on Sunday crossed over from Pakistan only hours prior to the attack, and sneaked in through the golf course undetected by any Army sentry, according to top security sources.

All the attackers were killed by Indian Special Forces within 15 minutes of the attack, the sources said.

The terrorists were clean shaven, hinting that they had freshly crossed over the Line of Control. The suicide squad snipped the concertina wires surrounding the camp at two places and managed to proceed freely in the absence of any sentry to stop them at the perimeter.

Undetected, they crossed the golf course and reached the temporary toilet area.

They shot dead the few soldiers who were at the toilet premises for their morning ablutions, and proceeded to the tents.

The incendiary ammunition had the tents in flames within seconds and the squad fired indiscriminately at the soldiers who tried to flee.

By then, Special Forces rushed to the spot and engaged the terrorists. In 15 minutes the whole operation was over with all four fidayeen killed. The Army casualties stood at 18 killed and 20 injured.
