Polling for the fifth phase of West Bengal Assembly election for 53 seats began on Saturday at 7 AM. The centre of attraction in this phase is Bhawanipur constituency where West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is pitted against former union minister Deepa Dasmunshi of the Congress.
The other prominent candidate in Bhawanipur is Chandra Kumar Bose, grand nephew of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, contesting on a BJP ticket.
Poll percentage at 3 pm for Hooghly was 72.46 % , 58.05% in Kolkata South and 73.19% in South 24 Parganas.
49 candidates are in fray for this phase of polls. Tight security has been put in place to avoid any untoward incidents.
