A decommissioned airplane got stuck beneath a bridge in Bihar’s Motihari on Friday, disrupting traffic jams on NH-27 for over an hour. The scrapped plane was being transported to Assam from Mumbai where it got stuck under the Piprakothi bridge in Motihari.

Preliminary reports suggest that the driver of the truck misjudged the underneath height of the overbridge, as a result, the plane got stuck.

Piprakothi’s station house officer (SHO) Manoj Kumar Singh said that the lorry and the plane was safely extricated and left for its destination, quoted Hindustan Times.

Nevertheless, witnesses reported that the aircraft was stalled beneath the bridge for more than an hour, causing severe traffic congestion on NH-27. A video of the incident went viral on social media, showing one lane of the highway totally stopped by vehicle.

An eyewitess said to HT that the police reached the spot around 9 am and the truck was extricated by deflating its tyres.

A similar incident occurred in November when the body of an airplane was struck on a road underpass near Korisapadu in the Bapatla district of Andhra Pradesh while en way from Kochi to Hyderabad.

The plane’s disruption of the local traffic flow led to the crowd’s gathering. According to a number of media reports, Ch Shiva Shankar, the proprietor of the well-known restaurant chain Pista House, was having the plane transported so he could open a restaurant.

While being driven from Kochi to Hyderabad on a vehicle, the aircraft became stuck in Korisepadu. On their route to Hyderabad, cars were diverted via the Korisapadu underpass.
