Kolkata: The death toll from the Bankura bus accident has now reached three, after the body of a three-year-old girl was recovered on Friday morning. A bus carrying around 50 passengers fell into the Bhairabanki river in Bankura on Thursday after the driver lost control over the vehicle as it crossed a flooded bridge.
While 45 of the passengers were rescued, five were said to be missing.
Police say the chances of survival for those missing are slim. Rescue operations, however, are still on and divers have been deployed.
The bus was on its way from Jhargam to Durgapur.
West Bengal has been receiving torrential rainfall for the past two days.
