New Delhi: The curtains came down on the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week on Sunday with a grand finale collection that was an ode to modernism by the 'King of Kitsch', designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee.

Inspired by the liked of Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse, Pedro Almodovar and the 60s and 70s era, Sabyasachi converged the elements to create a modern eclectic collection, entirely hand crafted out of Indian fabrics.

The collection was a montage that showcased fashion from Spain to Peru to Argentina with flashes of rural India.

The designer's collection depicted pastoral nomadity and urban intellectualism that created a magical moment on the ramp.

Speaking on the occasion, the recluse from Kolkata said, "It is indeed an honor and privilege to be the Wills Lifestyle grand finale designer."

"The Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week platform is a powerful one and I hope to be able to create a collection that will delight the patrons of the label. It is a significant engagement between both the brands and I am sure the audiences will be thrilled to view the show and access the creations on display," he said.

The ramp was turned into a rich medley of colour, creativity, dramatic renditions of the world of a stunning collection true to the genius of Sabyasachi.

The models took the ramp in fabrics that were very Indian with elements of net, lace, embroidery and much more that transported you to the 60s and 70s era of Europe.

With trademark splashes of colour on black, the cuts were very breezy, Gothic and ethereal.

Singer Kiya from London performed to a live Jazz band bringing to an end the five-day fashion extravaganza hosted in the national capital.
