Chandigarh: A 35-year-old female teacher in Chandigarh has been accused of sexually exploiting a 14-year-old student. The incident was reported from Ram Darbar area of the city.
The woman, a mother of two, has been arrested and a case registered under Section 6 of the Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
According to SDPO South, Harjeet Kaur, the lady teacher had consumed a poisonous substance and was admitted to a local hospital. The police party, as a routine, had gone to carry out the legal formalities. It was here where the matter came to light.
On further investigation it was found out that the victim, brilliant in his studies, was taking tuitions from the woman for the past three months.
However, of late the class X student was performing badly in his studies and had even started avoiding the tuitions.
The parents of the victim allege that the woman forced him to chat with her for long hours during the night. Alleging that the woman had become extremely obsessive about the child, they claimed that she even threatened to consume poison if they stopped sending their child for tuitions. One fine day, the teacher entered their home, locked herself up in the bathroom, and consumed a poisonous substance, they say.
The woman has two daughters and her husband is a lecturer in a city college.
