SABARIMALA:  The Pampa police have landed in trouble after they forced four women constables to accompany Agriculture Minister K P Mohanan on escort duty to Sabarimala for darsan in the wee hours of Monday. The police authorities at Pampa  aid post  committed this faux pas in violation of the court order against the entry of women in the restricted age to Sabarimala,  thereby hurting the religious sentiments of  the pilgrims. The four women constables in the 30-35 age group  were asked by  CI Riyas to accompany the minister  at 1.45 am, sources said.Although the constables brought to the notice of the CI the violation of temple practices, they were forced to escort the 30-member team of the minister, it is said.The women constables were stopped half way on the trekking path at Marakootam by fellow police personnel  on duty there amid protest by the pilgrims in the queue and sent back to Pampa.If may be recalled that police at Pampa do not strictly enforce the rule of not allowing women in the restricted age to Sabarimala. They have  violated the rule at least half a dozen times during the ongoing pilgrimage season. Probe orderedADGP P Chandrasekharan has asked the Pampa police special officer to conduct an inquiry into the incident. He said action would be taken against the guilty after getting the report.
