The world knows today that India is taking the lead in combating terrorism, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said during a public meeting in Saharanpur on Saturday, echoing BJP colleague and Defence Minister Rajanth Singh’s statement to News18 that India will give a befitting response to terrorist groups even if they flee to Pakistan.
Both Yogi Adityanath and Rajnath Singh were referring to a report by British newspaper The Guardian that claimed Indian intelligence agencies carried out assassinations of terrorists in Pakistan as part of an emboldened approach to national security after 2019.
“Two days ago a report by a reputed British newspaper attracted the attention of the world and all of us. It mentioned how terrorists were killed inside Pakistan… Today the world has also accepted that terrorism is a challenge and India will lead the world in dealing with it,” Adityanth said while campaigning for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

In an interview to Network18 Group Editor-in-Chief Rahul Joshi on Friday, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh had said that if terrorists flee to Pakistan, India will enter the neighbouring country to eliminate them.
“If terrorists from the neighbouring country try to disturb the peace in Bharat or try to carry out terror activities in Bharat, we will give them a befitting reply. (Koi bhi terrorist hamare padosi desh se yadi hamare Bharat ko disturb karne ki koshish karega, yahan par yadi atankvadi harkate karega, toh uska muh tod jawab denge),” Singh told News18. “If they run away to Pakistan, we will enter Pakistan to kill them (Yadi woh bhag kar Pakistan mein jayega, toh Pakistan mein ghus kar marenge).”
Singh had said that India has the strength to take stern action against cross-border terrorism and Pakistan has started realising it. The defence minister supported Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent comments that “Bharat” would not be a mute spectator. “Whatever the Prime Minister has said is absolutely true. And India has that strength and Pakistan has also started realising this,” Singh said.
The Defence Minister’s statement is being viewed as a signal of India’s unabashed public embrace of unorthodox tactics to eliminate security threats.
