Xmas kidnap gives B'lore rude shock
A 16-year-old boy was kidnappned by miscreants from the Koramangala area in Bangalore on Monday.

Bangalore: Christmas brought Bangalore a rude shock this year as a 16-year-old boy was kidnappned by unknown miscreants from the Koramangala area in the city on Monday morning.

Irfan Baig, son of a businessman named Sher Ali, was kidnapped from their shop in the Koramangala area at around 0830 hours on Monday. Sher Ali runs a business of renting out centering materials. According to an FIR lodged with the police, Irfan went missing after he left his house for the shop at around 0830 hours.

According to unconfirmed reports, Irfan's family received a ransom call later in the day asking for Rs 25 lakh to release the boy. Reports from Bangalore say family received the ransom call from Irfan's mobile. The callers claimed that Irfan had been kidnapped and he would be released only on the payment of Rs 25 lakh as ransom money.

The Bangalore police have already launched a manhunt to trace the boy.

According to family sources, Irfan's kidnappers have warned them against talking to anyone about the kidnap, especially to the police. "They (kidnappers) are supposed to call again and let us know where to meet and hand over the money," family sources said.

Irfan was a student of Johnson High School, Mangammanapalya. He is the eldest of Sher Ali’s five children. The family lives in Karimnagar near HAL.
