STATION GHANPUR: The vigour of youth was seen predominantly at all polling stations in Station Ghanpur constituency in Warangal district on Sunday. They were seen greeting voters at polling centres and urging them to vote for their respective parties. Apart from youth, women turned up in large numbers to exercise their franchise. Neither the India-Pakistan cricket match nor the many wedding celebrations on Sunday prevented people from coming out to vote. Even aged people waited patiently in queues.“The India-Pakistan match began at 1.30 pm. So, I cast my vote in the morning itself,” said Lakkiram Ramulu, a youth of Pedda Pendyala in Dharmasagar mandal. Young people were heard discussing cricket at polling centres in Station Ghanpur, Dharmasagar, Jaffargarh, Raghunadhapalli and Lingala Ghanpur mandals in the constituency.“We could see the match live only because of the election. Else, there would have been power cut,” pointed out Khadar Pasha of Namiligonda in Station Ghanpur mandal. He thanked the Election Commission for it. Power supply was uninterrupted through the day as the entire polling process was webcast for the first time.“I attended two marriages in Kanchanapalli in Raghunadhapalli mandal in the morning and came to the polling centre,” said Muppa Bharatamma, 45.Apart from TRS candidate T Rajaiah, TDP’s Kadiyam Srihari and Congress candidate Rajarapu Pratap, two others are also in the poll fray. But the main fight is between TRS and TDP. TRS workers were seen talking to people coming out of polling stations in a bid to know for whom did they cast their vote.“Earlier T Rajaiah was in the Congress and now he switched loyalty to the TRS. But I cast my vote for separate Telangana,” said R Sekhar, a specially-abled person of Tammadapalli in Jaffargarh mandal.
