BANGALORE: Soladevanahalli police arrested a Zimbabwe national who allegedly ran a Nigerian Lottery scheme and cheated a city-based person. The accused has been identified as Johnson Meckambo, a native of Kingdom of Lesotho in Zimbabwe. He cheated one G Sathish Kumar of Rs 5.91 lakh saying the latter had won the Airtel Sponsorship Award of Rs 5.60 crore.Satish Kumar, the victim received an email from the accused about an ‘award’ and asked him to contact him over a particular phone number and said he would provide details about the prize money. The accused asked Satish to pay Rs 5 lakh for the tax clearance of the prize amount and Sathish Kumar credited the money to six different bank accounts as discussed.He again credited Rs 91,000 to another bank account. But later Sathish Kumar had a doubt about the accused as he did not get any prize money and went to the police station, when the accused demanded more money.The police laid a trap made Johnson come near Chikkabanawara railway station to take the deposit money. When Johnson came, he was arrested and is now remanded to judicial custody.
