Member of the popular girl group Girl’s Day, Hyeri, is currently in talks to act in an upcoming Korean drama, titled, Friendly Rivalry, a GL (Girls’ Love) drama. As reported by STARNEWS on February 6, the actress is considering the offer positively, according to her agency, Creative Group ING. According to the report, TVING is set to produce this original series, and Hyeri has been approached to take on the lead role in the show. The drama, adapted from a webtoon by writer Song Chae Yoon, falls within the mystery thriller genre with a Girls’ Love storyline. The narrative deals with the intense rivalry between Yoo Jae Yi, a seemingly flawless high school student, and Seul Gi, a naive transfer student. The two characters evolve from best friends to revealing their sinister sides, showcasing their madness and the relentless pursuit of being the top student in the school.
Notably, the drama is also generating increased interest due to its potential classification as a 19+ rated series. The reason behind this potential rating is the exploration of sensitive topics such as addiction, self-harm, and other issues faced by teenagers, reports Naver Entertainment.
Soompi suggests that Hyeri has been offered the role of Yoo Jae Yi in the series. If she accepts this casting offer, it will mark her return to the small screen, a move eagerly anticipated by fans since her last appearance in the MBC drama May I Help You? which concluded in December 2022. Concurrently, Hyeri is preparing for the release of her upcoming film titled Victory.
