Fans of South Korean actors Park Hae-soo and Kim Tae-hee are extremely excited as the duo is about to create another milestone in their acting careers. Both stars are reportedly ready for their Hollywood debut. They are set to be a part of an upcoming American series titled Butterfly, to be screened on Amazon Prime Video. The spy thriller, greenlit in May 2023, is set to feature six episodes, as reported by Variety.
Actor Park Hae-soo is renowned for his standout performance as Sang Woo in the megahit Netflix series, Squid Game. This role also garnered him an Emmy nomination for the best supporting actor in a drama. In South Korean entertainment, he is also praised for his roles in projects like Prison Playbook, Chimera, Money Heist: Korea, and Ruthless Operation.
According to the report, in the upcoming series Butterfly, he will serve as a recurring guest star. Following his well-received performance in the highly acclaimed Narco-Saints, the actor, as communicated by his agency BH Entertainment and UTA, aims to make a notable contribution to the series by delivering his dialogues in English.
Similarly, actress Kim Tae-hee started her career as a model before becoming a popular name with her role in the South Korean TV series Stairway to Heaven. She went on to act in shows like Hi Bye Mama, Revenant, Forbidden Love and Love Story in Harvard and films like Iris and Lies Hidden In My Garden. Kim Tae-hee also affirmed her participation in Butterfly through a statement from her agency, Story J.
Talking about the plot of Butterfly, the television series draws inspiration from the renowned comic novel of the same name. Created by the collaborative efforts of Arash Amel and Marguerite Bennett, with visual contributions from Antonio Fuso and Stefano Simeone, the show narrates the tale of the character David Jung. A former U.S. intelligence agent, Jung’s life takes an unforeseen turn due to an important choice he makes, leading him to be haunted by his past and pursued by Rebecca, the relentless agent determined to end him.
Apart from Kim and Park Hae, the series also stars Daniel Dae-kim as David Jung. The actor has starred in several popular shows like The Good Doctor, Roar, and Avatar: The Last Airbender, as well as movies like Hellboy, Momentum, Crash, etc.
Reina Hardesty and Nayoon Kim are also slated to join the series cast.
Despite the buzzing excitement, the exact release date of Butterfly remains unconfirmed, and with the recent finalization of the cast, a trailer for the series is yet to be released. As the production gears up for filming, viewers eagerly await the release of this intriguing spy thriller on the streaming platform.
