A clear version of Pepsi's carbonated soft drink, is poised to make a comeback, with the company citing fan demand as its inspiration.
The new formulation keeps Pepsi's caffeine ingredient in the mix, the original Crystal Pepsi was a caffeine-free alternative, and the drink arrives after an online fan campaign got underway in 2015.
PepsiCo says that the drink will be made available this summer in North America for a limited time in retail and foodservice locations across the USA and Canada.
July 11 sees the 20oz bottles made available in Canada and on August 8 they will commence distribution in the US, at a suggested price of $1.79.
Crystal Pepsi was originally introduced in April 1992, withdrawing it the following year.
Coca-Cola responded with Tab Clear in December of 1992, but made it calorie-free rather than caffeine free; it was withdrawn by 1994.
The Coca-Cola Company's citrus-flavored Surge was re-introduced to the US in 2014 and more widely in 2015 after an online fan movement gained traction.
