New Delhi: Malls are usually the most sought after hangout spot on Valentine's Day and besotted couples pour in to celebrate the day of love there. The plush malls in New Delhi, come up with interesting themes to awe-strike the visitors and make their Valentine's Day even more special. Apart from shopping and movie viewing, the passersby also get to see innovative themes that are more attention grabbing than anything else.
One of the most happening malls in the capital is Select City Walk, Saket. And that's the place where a lot of smitten love birds have their first date. This year Select City Walk came up with Love Express, an installation of a vintage coach embodying soulful journey of love. The Love Express conceptualized by world's largest floral chain Ferns N Petals is a beautiful display of emotions on wheels. It is for all love struck passengers who can enjoy the paradise on wheels to celebrate Valentine's Day.
Speaking to IBNLive.com, the marketing head of Select City Walk Geetanjali Singh said, "Select City Walk mall is a favourite among Delhi couple. A lot of them have had their first dates here. So keeping that in mind we came with the theme of Love Express. Last year more than one lakh twenty thousand people dropped by to celebrate the day of love here and this year too we are expecting more than that. We have also planned a musical evening on 14th."
And not just Delhi but also the malls in the National Capital Region are decked up for Valentine's Day.
The malls in Noida have also geared up for Valentine's Day. The day sees a lot of young and old couples looking to spend time with each other and what better place to go if you live in a city like Delhi. The Great India Place mall, one of the biggest malls in NCR, has been decorated with hundreds of heart shaped lamps, wall hangings and balloons. Couples were seen in every corner taking selfies or asking passersby to click a picture for them.
Shameem Anwar the senior manager (event) at the GIP mall said that they have concentrated a lot on decoration. "We have an average foot fall of about 80,000 and of about 2,500 in our amusement park called the 'Worlds of Wonders'. So keeping that in mind we have given the mall a Valentine's Day theme with heart shaped decoration and chandeliers and all of it. In the amusement park too we have made the entrance through a heart shaped gate and we have also made a Taj Mahal inside the park," he said.
GIP has decorations of worth Rs 15 lakh confirmed Shameem Anwar. On being asked if they had received any threat from the right wing groups they said, "No we have not. The police had assured us complete support and so we went on with our plans."
Similarly the Centre Stage Mall in Noida also has paid a lot of attention to the decoration and are hopeful that the couples would enjoy and have a memorable Valentine's day. Shoaib and Ameena, a young couple from Afganistan, who are here for medical reasons, planned to visit a mall in Delhi on Valentine's day as it was not celebrated with the same vigor in their country. "We are very happy that we came to GIP today. It is beautifully decorated and we plan to spend a lot of time here today just walking around, shopping and eating with each other," said Ameena.
