So often we feel caught off-guard by the many big and conflicting emotions we’re feeling, and we take that to mean that something is wrong. When really, grief, doubt, confusion, and loneliness are all part of the challenge of navigating a breakup.”

  • Intensely missing your ex, even if deep down you know the breakup was the right thing.
  • Only remembering the positives and developing amnesia about all the things that weren’t working.

  • Replaying everything that happened between you and second-guessing yourself.
  • Feeling dread about the idea of starting from scratch with someone new.
  • Grieving not only the past but the future you’ll no longer share together.
  • Struggling with not knowing how they’re feeling, what they’re doing, or whether they’ve moved on.

But at the same time, the sooner you get normal, the better it is for you. Here are some tips that might be helpful to overcome a breakup:

  • No one usually wants to accept reality after a breakup. So, the first step to overcoming the heartbreak is to accept the truth. Being in denial mode will make it harder to fully detach and start healing.

  • Lastly, it is important to keep yourselves busy to overcome the thoughts of the moments that you spent together. Spend your free time watching movies, reading books, chilling out with friends, and doing other activities.
