The annual Victoria's Secret Fashion Show has become as famous for its voluminous, Hollywood hairstyles as it has for its extravagant costumes -- but this year, the brand seems to be embracing natural beauty at last.

The 2017 show, which took place in Shanghai on Monday, saw several models eschewing hair extensions and instead choosing to rock their natural styles. Angolan model Maria Borges, who made headlines when she became the first Victoria's Secret model to showcase her natural afro on the runway in 2015, led the way by teaming her dazzling lingerie with her signature curly crop. Another Angolan star, Amilna Estevao, followed suit alongside Alécia Morais, Mayowa Nicholas and Jourdana Phillips, while Grace Bol stunned with the shortest cut of all.

Meanwhile Samile Bermannelli, Aiden Curtiss and Alanna Arrington all showcased perfect corkscrew curls in short, shaggy styles, and fashion star Dilone worked her iconic androgynous crop.

Of course, it wouldn't be Victoria's Secret without a dose of glossy, bombshell waves -- but the signature look was a little more relaxed this year. "This year's look is relaxed and sexy -- each model's natural texture was enhanced and perfected for a ‘day-after-the-party' vibe," hairstylist Anthony Turner told Harper's Bazaar. "Hair had volume and separation for a sexy, ‘undone' feel with movement." As such, Angels such as Adriana Lima, Lily Aldridge, Romee Strijd and Sara Sampaio et al took to the catwalk with waves that were softer and choppier than usual.
