On St. Patrick's Day, the world will take on a shamrock green glow, with new additions to Tourism Ireland's annual "Global Greening" campaign.
For the eighth edition of the tourism campaign, One World Trade Center in New York, Placa de Catalunya and the fountains on Gran Via in Barcelona, Diamond Bridge (Gwangandaegyo) in South Korea and the red carpet in Cannes will show their Irish stripes by turning green for the first time this year.
They join a growing list of global landmarks and historic sites around the world that include the London Eye, the Colosseum in Rome, the Burj al Arab in Dubai, the Empire State Building in New York, and the Great Wall of China.
In total, 250 landmarks, stadiums, statues, castles and towers make up this year's line-up.
Meanwhile, this year's theme for Dublin's annual St. Patrick's Day party is "Ireland We Are," a chance for the Irish to showcase the best of their heritage. Activities include the world's largest outdoor performance of the traditional ceili dance, guided historic walks and free workshops at local museums.
The main event, the St. Patrick's Festival parade, will be held Friday in Dublin's city center.
Other newcomers that will glow green for the first time year include the Heron Tower in London, City Hall in Antwerp, Matsue Castle in Japan, a rhino statue in Nairobi National Park and an Ethiopian Airlines plane in Addis Adaba.
