Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar starrer 2.0 is unstoppable as the film goes on to create another record even after 15 days of its release. The film has surpassed Sanju and Padmaavat in terms of ticket sales and has become the highest grossing movie of 2018.
BookMyShow reported that Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone starrer Padmaavat earned Rs 268 crore while Ranbir Kapoor's Sanju had collected Rs 297 crore in ticket sales respectively. On the other hand, 2.0 has made Rs 311 crore in ticket bookings. Not only this, S. Shakar's film is on winning streak with a collection above Rs 700 crore at the global box office.
2.0 has also beaten Aamir Khan's blockbuster Dangal in India, taking into consideration the business of the film in all three versions (Hindi, Tamil and Telugu), reports Times Now.
2.0 (Hindi version) had an average earning at the box office in the beginning. Subsequently, the film witnessed a significant growth in its collection on the third day of its release. The film was the highest opener of 2018 by minting Rs 73.5 crore (all versions) on the opening day.
The sequel to 2010 blockbuster Robot sees Akshay in the role of an antagonist, Dr Richard/Crowman, a cellphone-hating mutant scientist. While Rajini reprises his role as Dr Vaseegaran/Chitti from the original film.
CNN-News18 film critic Rajeev Masand rated the film 3/5. Praising the film's visual effects, Masand wrote, "The VFX and the sheer spectacle on display allow me to forgive many of its faults. Shortcomings notwithstanding, it is the victory of vision. Shankar has shown us that slick special effects blockbusters are very much within our grasp."
The film also features Adil Hussain, Sudhanshu Pandey and Amy Jackson in key roles.
