In a surprising news, actress Lena has announced her marriage to Captain Prasanth Balakrishnan Nair, one of the four astronauts who has been selected for the Indian Space Research Organisation’s human spaceflight programme – Gaganyaan. Lena announced her marriage on her Instagram handle on Tuesday, hours after Prime Minister Narendra Modi named Nair among the test pilots undergoing training for Gaganyaan. In an interview with CNN-News18, the actress has now opened up on her marriage.
Lena said that it was after watching a viral interview of Lena discussing spirituality that Prashanth contacted her. She said that she doesn’t know much about the Gaganyaan mission but understands the rigorous training involved. “They are being literally being shaped into superhumans,” she said.
On being asked if she was waiting to break the marriage news, she said, “I was waiting but not so much like I was eager to share the happiness, joy. I had to keep a huge secret, because of the confidentiality of the programme and his name was not supposed to be disclosed and me being a celebrity, it was a huge pressure to keep this secret I am glad now that finally it’s out in the open.” Opening up on their wedding, she said that it was a small ceremony due to confidentiality reasons. “On January 17, 2024, the muhurtham for our arranged marriage was carefully chosen after consulting astrological considerations. We were advised that it was the most auspicious date. Our parents could attend it. Unfortunately, Prashanth’s siblings and my sister were unable to join us. We understood the confidential nature of Prashanth’s job and that they have very strict protocol,” she said.
Speaking of their bond, she further shared that she feels their souls are the same. She said, “In just a short time of being together, we feel that we are the male and female version of one soul; I have been single for 12 years and never thought I would get married again, especially considering my deep dive into spirituality, which I never thought I would find someone to vibe with spiritually because that’s a very delicate balance.” Lena also revealed that Prashant is a foodie and is teaching her a new skill of how to eat without missing out on food!
Looking back at how they got in touch, Lena revealed, “In late August, I gave an interview which went viral. I spoke a few things which I have never spoken about like my interest in Vedic studies and my spiritual understandings. This went viral beyond anything I thought was possible. Prashanth saw this interview on YouTube and he said yeah I have seen her as an actress but This is someone I vibe with spiritually and intellectually he got interested. He got parents to get my number through friends. He got my number. Gradually we spoke and then our parents got talking and then the wedding was arranged. I am so thankful to all the meme and troll pages and for the viral content.”
She also opened up on why she thinks Prashanth chose her as his wife and credited spirituality for it. “I think he saw my spiritual maturity, which is what connects us. We both believe in destiny and what is meant to be. It’s our calling, destiny unfolding. We have absolute trust and faith in the process and our part in this. There is no fear whatsoever. The worst fear for human beings is death, but we see death as a natural process. As far as I see [the mission], Prashanth is a warrior; he has been in the force and has been a fighter pilot, which I feel is more dangerous. Prashanth’s parents live in Palakkad, with two brothers and one sister, none of them in the forces,” she said.
Besides Nair, the other three astronauts who have been chosen for the mission are Group Captain Ajit Krishnan, Group Captain Angad Pratap and Wing Commander Shubhanshu Shukla.
