Ananya Panday has her hands full with the promotions for her upcoming comedy-drama, Call Me Bae. Directed by Collin D’Cunha, the series will revolve around a downsized heiress, Bella (played by Ananya), who will fight hard to navigate challenges in her work and love life in the City of Dreams. The actress, who is leaving no stone unturned in promoting her upcoming project, was seen taking a metro ride with her co-stars and director on Wednesday.
Ananya reposted a few clips on her Instagram stories that showcased this promotional strategy by the Call Me Bae team. One of them featured a picture of the entire cast of the Amazon Prime series, including Ananya, Gurfateh Pirzada, Muskkaan Jaferi, Niharika Lyra Dutt, Varun Sood, Vihaan Samat, and director Collin D’cunha. They posed for a mirror groufie, which had “Be A Bae Of Sunshine, Today!” inscribed on it. For the day, Ananya slipped into a denim look comprising a sleeveless crop top and jeans featuring denim tassels.
The next story of the actress’ IG featured a video of a metro at Mumbai Metro Western Highway, Andheri, which was painted with the posters of Call Me Bae. In another story, Ananya was seen inside the metro, taking a fun ride with all her co-stars.
During the show’s trailer launch, Ananya talked about the show and mentioned that her upcoming project is an amalgamation of all the chick flicks she loved watching while growing up. She said, “It’s (The series) an amalgamation of all these chick-flick kind of movies that I loved growing up. And then there was obviously Poo (Kareena Kapoor’s character in Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham), who was iconic. I dressed up as Poo two years ago. I have all of her quotations on my mirror and everything, so she’s definitely left an impression on me.”
“It’s like a mix of Schitt’s Creek, Clueless, Aisha and Nancy Drew. I don’t think we’re really getting to watch (such films and series) right now. It’s the kind of show that I enjoy watching. It’s very light, young adult, happy and fun. Even though Bae has a bit of all these characters (in her), she is fully her own person,” Ananya further added.
On the personal front, Ananya recently lost her furbaby, Fudge.
Sharing a carousel featuring some memorable moments with the latter, the actress wrote, “2008 – infinity. Rest in peace Fudge, I love you, fighter. 16 years of a life filled with so much food and joy, I’ll miss you every single day.”
