Aziz Ansari, Master of None Actor, Accused of Sexual Assault in 2017
Golden Globe Winner Aziz Ansari, creator and star of Netflix comedy Master of None, has been accused of sexual assault in 2017 by a 23-year-old photographer

Aziz Ansari, who recently became the first Asian-American to win the Golden Globe for Best Actor (Comedy or musical series), has just been accused of sexual assault by a 23-year-old photographer, identified only as 'Grace', in an interview with Babe.

Grace alleges that the assault took place during a date she was on with Ansari, in 2017. She claims that while initially excited to be going out with the Master of None creator and star, but the night ended with her in tears on the cab ride back home.

The Indian-origin Ansari famously identifies as a feminist and is considered among the most 'woke' of Hollywood stars. His stand-up comedy as well as his award-winning show on Netflix have often been toasted for their outspokenness on race relations, sexual assault and other social issues and the liberal egalitarianism they espouse. Ansari wore a Time's Up pin at the recently held Golden Globe awards where he picked up his Best Actor win.

The Time's Up movement was started by several powerful women in Hollywood and social activists as a response to the slew of sexual assault allegations across countries and organizations that have come to light recently, starting with the Harvey Weinstein revelations.

Since then, a number of powerful players in Hollywood have been outed as alleged sexual assaulters and worse with complaints and confessions subsequently coming out from companies, governments, and private homes all over the world.
