Scarlett Johansson and Channing Tatum’s Take Me to the Moon has finally hit theatres, receiving mixed reactions from audiences. Directed by Greg Berlanti, the film takes viewers on an orchestrated journey behind the scenes of the 1969 Apollo 11 mission. While fans seem to be enjoying the fresh chemistry between the leads, Channing Tatum has reflected on the first day on set with Scarlett Johansson. He also recalled making fun of Scarlett Johansson’s wig that she wore for the film.

At Take Me to the Moon’s New York premiere, the 44-year-old actor spoke to Variety and said, “I remember us going down right after the table read to go into hair and makeup and start to try to figure out our look for the movie—it’s period and everything—and she was trying to figure out her wig for the movie. I just immediately started making fun of her wig. I was like, you’re gonna wear that? Is that like a thing that they used to do back then? Wear raccoons on their heads? And she’s like, ‘Shut up!’ She’s like, ‘Not now!'”

Lauding the Black Widow star’s performance, Channing Tatum added, “She is the force in the film, and she’s a force in this life as well.”

On the other hand, Scarlett Johansson also spoke highly of Channing Tatum’s qualities, which made him the right choice for the character. “He has a humility about him and about his performances that is so unique. He can laugh at himself and he doesn’t take himself too seriously, and those qualities are all baked into the character,” the actress said.

Channing Tatum On Shooting At NASA

Channing Tatum, who plays Cole Davis, the NASA director in charge of the Apollo 11 mission, opened up about shooting at the space agency’s Kennedy Space Centre. “We got to go to the roof of one of the biggest buildings in the world and watch an actual launch because they were launching rockets all the time for this new program. I was like, ‘This is really nuts.’ Even to be on the roof was enough, so it was really cool,” he shared.

Take Me to the Moon follows the relationship between Davis and Kelly Jones (Johansson), a marketing specialist who has been hired to “sell the moon” to America and thus must stage a fake landing.
