Christopher Nolan, as a director, needs no introduction. In his career spanning decades, he has delivered several intellectual and mind-bending movies like Inception, Tenet, and Interstellar that often required a second watch to comprehend. Needless to mention, Nolan’s directorial prowess and film opinions are held in high acclaim. So when the Academy Award winner at a podcast first revealed that he holds a “very soft spot" for the Fast And Furious franchise, especially the Tokyo Drift one, his views quickly became the talk of the town. Now, Nolan has once again heaped praise on the Fast And Furious films, claiming that he has “no guilt" about being a fan of the movie series.
Christopher Nolan recently made an appearance on the celebrity talk show The Late Show hosted by Stephen Colbert. During the conversation, Colbert asked Nolan about his long-standing fondness for Fast And Furious, before admitting that he has never seen any of the movies from the long-running series. Shocked at the revelation, Nolan begged to differ. He proudly proclaimed, “I have no guilt about being a fan of the Fast & Furious franchise. A tremendous action franchise … You’ve never seen any of them? I watch those movies all the time. I love them. I’m amazed you’ve never seen one of them. It’s only the last few where a specific arc and mythology develop. I would start with Tokyo Drift and watch it as its own thing."
Fast And Furious is one of the much-loved film franchises enjoyed by action and racing enthusiasts. The eleventh movie of the series titled Fast X Part 2 is expected to premiere on April 4, 2025. Directed by Louis Leterrier, the upcoming project boasts a cast ensemble of Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham, Jason Momoa, Nathalie Emmanuel, and Michelle Rodriguez among others.
